Major Melbourne Industrial Project
Certified Smart Lock installer Rangedale Drainage Services Pty Ltd had the job of inspecting the stormwater pipeline infrastructure under a newly built major Melbourne Industrial development.
The CCTV video revealed a number of faults that would prevent the final clearance of the capital works. The problems included:
- Jointing material intrusions at pipe joints
- Seals visibly displaced and damaged
- Spalling of concrete
- Metal Intrusions
- Joint displacements
- Radial Displacements
- Longitudinal displacements
- Multiple or complex surface cracks
- Circumferential fractures
Rangedale had the job of remedying all of these faults to enable the clearance of site works and the project worth over $400m to be signed off.
Neil Kermeen, Managing Director of Rangedale marshalled his troops. The result included the installation of over 130 Smart Locks in sizes ranging from DN300mm to DN675mm in under two weeks.
Rangedale installed these Smart Locks with four operators, in less than two weeks under severe operating conditions including access only at night shift, inclement weather, multiple trades on site including over 3,000 workers and trade vehicles, building works in progress and under extreme time pressure to finalise the job.
Rangedale completed the job with all required CCTV footage before and after recorded and all lines cleaned before installation.
This was a record effort by Rangedale and was achievable only due to the speed and efficiency of installation available from the locally produced Smart Lock system. Neil Kermeen, Managing Director of Rangedale, commented that at one point, with only downstream access, the operators installed 16 Smart Locks end to end in one eight hour shift – we think a world record…
A truly outstanding result for Rangedale and one that Smart Lock is proud to be associated with. The Smart Lock was instrumental in providing structural integrity to the damaged pipes and provided a speedy solution that could meet the tight time frames required.
